Lazy, Hazy Days of Summer? Hazy, Maybe. Lazy? Not So Much.

June 21st, the longest day of the year and, according to the hardworking folk around here, in more ways than one.  They were mighty glad to call it quits last night and lay their weary bones down.

Few dairy farmers still do small square bales and we have considered switching in order to save on physical labour, but the way our barn's set up, small bales work best.  While it's labour intensive, it does make feeding the cattle pretty convenient during those bitterly cold winter months when starting machinery can be somewhat troublesome.  We readily admit though, watching those big balers finish up a field in a fraction of the time sure is tempting...

"Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man."

Proverbs 6:6-11
